bad idea

equals chenille rug. sure 50% off from pottery barn outlet seems like a great deal, but $150 is a lot to pay for grey fuzzies all over the floor regardless of how many times you sweep, or how intensely and extensively you vacuum the rug.

and we've realised that, no matter how coveted wood floors may be, you always end up covering them with rugs, they are cold in the winter and you're always worried about damaging them so why not just stick with carpets anyway? plus, it would be easier for Maisie to explore her abilities and developmental milestones on carpet rather than tipping over and knocking her head on a wood floor, covered by a scant and shedding bad-purchase chenille rug.

oh well.

  2. I absolutely agree. This is the second house we've lived in with hardwood floors and they're kind of annoying. We end up wearing slippers all the time, we get dust-bunnies floating around everywhere, and we have to worry about being quiet for the people living below us.

The only benefit we have with our hardwood in this house is it's the original from the 50s and the landlords didn't bother coating it with a finish so they said don't worry about scuffing it up.

    My advice, go carpet.

  3. In our opinion, hardwood just doesn't compare to carpet. Sure it "looks" great if you have a nice finish and no sratches. It's cold, it makes lots of creaks for those living under you, and you get dust-bunnies developing if you don't clean if for a couple weeks!

I feel your pain and in our next house we go carpet all the way (minus the kitchen and bathroom because that would just be nasty!)
